12/29/09 Randy Ploesser and friends over at PRETTY Skateboards organized an event at the St. Louis Skatium roller rink in order to raise money to build new obstacles at the DIY skatepark that is being built under the Kingshighway bridge in heart of The Hill in downtown St. Louis. Various people brought homemade obstacles to skate and the party of skateboarders from all over the city was full of life until 2am. It was a unifying experience and it opened our eyes to see how skateboarding connects people on such a significant level. A little shy of 200 people came and donated over 1800 dollars towards concrete, rebar, and a second home for the areas skaters. I spent the night with old friends and saw the skateboarders that impacted me to keep skateboarding. It was truly a night that led me to recognize my roots and be hopeful for the future.
