I love shooting with Jeff Rasp. He is the kind of skateboarder who can skate anything. Jeff and I could put together an entire issue of just him at the bridge and he’d still find new ways to approach skating it. These are older photos of Jeff I came across and reprocessed.

Skateboarding is a unique beast in the respect that sometimes there are photos that never see the light of day. Promises are made to go back and land the trick, but depending on the integrity of the photographer, tricks that aren’t landed aren’t run. At least we hope that’s the way people do things. That’s the standard of ethics we adhere to. When Colin tried this he had freshly broken his collarbone. There were pins in his shoulder as he rolled toward this 18 stair rail with a 2 story drop on the other side.

As you can see things did not go exactly as planned. Skate photos are generally run with a sort of inferred outcome, but today I’ll show the actual result.

A post to let everyone know that the portfolio page has been updated. Here Drew Etzkorn FS hurricanes a barrier at the famed KHVT DIY skatepark in St. Louis, MO. The bridge is scheduled to be demolished sometime this year and I am in the process of archiving images to remember the project. I am considering turning the project into a coffee table book.

Sometimes it’s very necessary to revisit photos I’ve shot in the past. Whether it’s new techniques I’ve learned or just changes in my evolving style as a photographer I find it cathartic to reprocess old images. This is a shot from 2010 that I don’t recall ever doing much with. To induce some nostalgia for myself I gave it a nice B/W treatment.
